Workshops

WordAbilities LLC offers a two-day business writing workshop for those who want to improve their writing skills.  Nine Keys to Effective Business Writing is presented at public venues (dates and locations will be listed here as scheduled) and can also be customized to a company’s requirements and presented on-site.

Who is the workshop for? If you are ever called on to write any type of business document, including letters, memos, emails, reports, and press releases, Nine Keys to Effective Business Writing is for you!

What you will learn:

  • How to make your document readable
  • How to write from your reader’s perspective
  • How to get started when you know what you need to write, but don’t know how to write it
  • How to “cut the fat” from your writing
  • How to “smooth out” a choppy message
  • How to make sure the words you choose are the ones you want
  • How to follow the important grammar and punctuation rules and ignore the rest
  • How to make sure your emails don’t get deleted without getting read
  • How to take notes for yourself and for others

Here’s what participants have to say about Nine Keys to Effective Business Writing:

  • What I liked best about this workshop is the scope of content and the informal interplay between instructor and participants. Bill Middendorf, real estate broker
  • I loved it! Danetta Smith, S.M. Wilson & Co.
  • Meaty content, easy to understand and apply. Everything was great! Marion Stevens, Principle, Productivity Plus Consulting LLC
  • Mary is an awesome teacher. She’s very polite and patient and explains everything in detail. Tina Wardle, Video Conference Technician, Sandea National Laboratories
  • I learned that many grammar rules have changed. I feel more confident recognizing problems with my writing. Sam Burton, Chemist, U.S. Bureau of Land Management
  • The most valuable thing I learned is that when you’re writing, you’re writing for the reader. Stanley Drozell, Asst. Field Manager, U.S. Bureau of Land Management
  • Excellent class. Enjoyed the exercises and classroom involvement and the ability to discuss the subject in a comfortable setting. Dianna Baum, Fleet Services Representative, U.S. General Services Administration
